Spring League Signup is Here

tvad4Even as the Winter keeps on trucking and the playoffs heat up, we are gearing up for another spring league of curling. Again, this year we will host curling from from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Fridays.

The Spring League will start April 12 and run every FRIDAY through May 31 (with the exception of May 17) on the indoor rink at Glacier Ice Rink. We will share the schedule when it becomes available.

Games will be 6 ends. Unlike the Winter League, people sign up as individuals for the spring league and then we will put together teams on the first night.

We are making this season as cheap as we can, with the fees only just covering the cost of renting the ice. We will charge $70 for seven weeks of curling — that’s $10 bucks a game. If you are currently NOT a member of Missoula Curling Club, you will be charged $100 for the season to cover insurance and USA Curling dues. First 80 registrants will be guaranteed to the play League.

In an effort to respond to our members, we are trying a new league structure this season that breaks winter league into two, 9-week sessions where you will play every weekend. Members said they wanted fewer gaps in their schedule and more regularity of play to improve their game and team dynamic. So, our second session will run from  February 2 – March 30. The session will feature 18 teams divided between a competitive division and a recreational one.

Curling fees are $420 for a team (for 8 games). The top four teams of each division will play the ninth week in a playoff. This is the same as last year and still down from the $500 we charged in 2013-2014. Members of the team who play must be members of the Missoula Curling Club. Alternates and those playing fewer than 5 games during the winter and spring leagues can also join as social members of the club.

If you have someone that wants to sponsor your team, let them know that we are a 501 C (3) non-profit and that sponsor fee will be tax deductible.
