Three Week Instructional League Great for Beginners

Three Week Instructional League Great for Beginners

Curling StonesLast fall the Missoula Curling Club introduced a new way for people to try out the sport of curling and play in an instructional league. We will be hosting two of these sessions this winter as well.

These leagues will run for three nights, with new players receiving instruction the first night and then we will organize and play games in a fun, recreational league for the remainder of the time.

Although you can sign up as a team — which is made up of four or five players — most people can just sign up as an individual. The fee for all three nights is $60 per person. Once you submit your registration below you will receive an invoice from the club within 48 hours and can pay by printing it out and mailing it with a check or paying online.

We will schedule the sessions to play at the same time as the other leagues so you can watch other teams curl as well as learn yourself. Schedules will be organized as we get closer to the start of the league and know how many teams we have.

  • When: Saturdays at 9:00 or 10:30 p.m. Starting (probably) Nov. 14 — we will know for sure closer to the start of the season.
  • Where: Glacier Ice Rink’s outside rink.
  • Cost: $60 for all three sessions.
  • What to wear: Clean sneakers and warm, but comfortable pants and coats.

Sessions will last 90 minutes and will include instructions on how to play and score and two full games.

Scoring their second league championship in three years, Barry Bollenbacher and his team Fellowship of the Rock won a championship game against last year’s champs Hicks Hacks.

The game, played March 14 at Glacier Ice Rink, capped an exciting Winter League that started back in November.

The championship also brought to an end the fifth season of curling in Missoula. We will be hosting a spring league that plays every Monday starting on April 13.

The spring league costs $70 for seven weeks of curling. Sign up now to get in.
