League Standings Tiebreakers
If two or more teams finish the regular season with the same number of league points, final standings will be determined using the following criteria, in order, until all ties are resolved.
Multi-Team Ties: If a tiebreaker step resolves the positions of some, but not all, tied teams, the positions of those teams will be finalized. The tiebreaking procedure will then restart at Step 1 for the remaining tied teams only, excluding teams whose positions have already been determined. This process will be repeated as necessary until all standings are resolved.
-
Head-to-Head Results (if applicable): Winning percentage of tied teams in games played against the other tied teams. This step is skipped if not all tied teams have played each other.
-
Record vs. Common Opponents: Winning percentage of tied teams in games played against opponents that all tied teams have faced.
-
Strength of Wins: Average final winning percentage of the opponents each tied team defeated during the regular season.
-
Strength of Losses: Average final winning percentage of the opponents each tied team lost to during the regular season.
-
Results vs. Common Opponents in Standings Order: Compare each tied team's results against common opponents, beginning with the highest-ranked opponent in the final standings and proceeding downward. Teams that defeated an opponent are ranked above teams that lost to that opponent. If all tied teams had the same result against an opponent, proceed to the next opponent. If this step resolves only some positions, the remaining ties will be resolved by restarting the tiebreaking procedure.
-
Point Differential vs. Common Opponents: Compare the total point differential (points scored minus points allowed) in games against opponents that all tied teams have faced.
-
Overall Point Differential: Total point differential (points scored minus points allowed) across all regular-season games.
-
Draw to the Button: If a tie remains unresolved after all other criteria have been applied, a Draw to the Button will determine final placement. A coin flip may be used if a Draw to the Button is not practical to arrange.
